The author of this book pioneered the concept of color echoes, a method of creating color harmonies in the garden. Echoes are simply the repetition of different tints of one color throughout a garden, resulting in overall unity.

I was first introduced to this concept and book in a thread topic that pirl started in the Perennials forum. This is a great book for anyone interested in overall garden design techniques. Associated Color Echoes thread for reference and enjoyment:
The thread "Color Echoes, anyone?" in Perennials forum
