Alplains offers a vast selection, consisting mainly of wild-collected, native species. I especially appreciate that Alan Bradshaw lists the county, state and elevation of each collection, along with a useful germination guide. My orders have been accurate and shipped promptly in a padded envelope, even during the busiest season, along with a nice bonus pack of seeds.

Alplains specializes in western states' seeds - many wild gathered. Located in Colorado, many of their seed offerings are for plants that grow at high elevation. They have one of the largest array of seeds not found anywhere else. If you are looking for desert or alpine seeds, they are worth checking out.

Seed germination from my first order with this company is running at one hundred percent! So far I've only observed the response of one genus/type under controlled indoor conditions, but I've winter sown others and feel entirely comfortable in enjoying high expectations.

Giant selection of western American, mostly higher elevation, native wild species. Includes the largest wild penstemon seed collection in the world. Also alpine cactus and other dryland seed. Germination instructions are very specific, not just "requires cold stratification," for example. Very reputable and very knowledgeable! Recipient of the Marcel Le Piniec award from the North American Rock Garden Society for "enriching and extending the range of plant material available to American rock gardeners." International orders accepted.

Huge variety of rare alpine wildflowers and wild-collected US alpines. Huge!

I found Stachys lavandulifolia there, which I had been unable to find anywhere else. Their variety of alpine wildflowers is awesome and amazing. The germination advice is very detailed. Very good!
