The Green Pages: Ladybug Daylilies (E-Commerce Companies)

My first experience with Ladybug Dayliles was while I was still in Washington state. I had no knowledge of how to grow and nourish a daylily, The knowledge I received from Dan and Leslie set me on a path to own as many as I could. I believe my last count was over 200 cultivars. When I left Washington to move to Arizona, I took about 25 cultivars with me, but due to a malfunction in my watering system while I was on vacation, only one survived the desert heat.

Last year when I was ready to start over in the desert with daylilies, I called Dan. I told him about my situation and what we had built to shade the daylilies from the heat, and again I received the help I needed to get started, Much to my surprise, I had a bloom on one of them later in the spring. Dan was honest and told me that some of the cultivars I had expressed interest in would not do well in the desert. He also told me not to buy the new ones and to start slow, and he said that it will be a good learning experience for both of us. He told me it would help him with recommendations for our extreme growing conditions. I am looking forward to some other blooms this spring because the plants have settled in and grown very nicely. Shannon Ashley bloomed for me the first spring. I was elated!

I had a working relationship with Dan Hansen for several years when I first started in daylilies. He is very generous with his knowledge and plants. I moved from FL several years ago and still order from Dan regularly. He always sends extras of plants I've ordered as well as bonus plants. Highly recommend.

As another reviewer noted, Dan is very generous with his orders. I ordered 10 plants and received 15! They were all triple fans or more, with the exception of just a couple. Definitely will order from him again. He's closer to my neck of the woods too.

Dan grows healthy plants and is generous with fans. He will be happy to answer questions. His website is easy to navigate and is full of lots of information on growing daylilies, which is invaluable for newbies There are also lots of beautiful photos of the plants, as well as videos. There is a section of excerpts from newsletters written by his late Mom, Ra Hansen. He stands behind his products and will not ship plants to zones where they will not do well.
