Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Plum Tuckered') On July 9, 2020 Miscellaneous Event
It seems Plum Tuckered doesn't agree with the 98 degree temps today. It's been watered well, during this year's drought, and until today, it's held up, but today, at 5pm I noticed it wilting and it had lost it's substance under the 98 degree heat. I've had this cultivar for 5 or 6 years, and it has never done this before.

Before @ 9am today

After @ 5pm today

This is Bob Selman's, so it came from North Carolina. Therefore, I'm confident that it has been observed under extremely high temperatures. 🤷🤷

Maiden Grass (Miscanthus sinensis) On May 23, 2018 Miscellaneous Event
Our winter weather extended in to early May, this year, and this specimen is looking really scraggly. Sad I've noticed that ornamental grasses in commercial landscapes are struggling too, so my guess is this unusually cold Spring is the culprit. Hoping it will bounce back, this year. Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!
Zebra Grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus') On May 23, 2018 Miscellaneous Event
Our winter weather extended in to early May, this year, and I'm afraid I lost one specimen completely, and the other is looking really scraggly. Sad I've noticed that ornamental grasses in commercial landscapes are struggling too, so my guess is this unusually cold Spring is the culprit. Hoping it will bounce back, this year. Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!
Rose (Rosa 'Veterans' Honor') On May 23, 2018 Miscellaneous Event
I have this rose in honor of my father, who passed in Summer of 2009, because he was a veteran and his favorite flower was the red rose. I stumbled across it in the Fall of 2009, while wandering my favorite nursery, feeling very low. There it was, the only one they had, and it was calling my name, so I brought it home and planted it, and nothing filled my heart with joy more, than that day! It bloomed up until 3 years ago, and this year (2018) I was going to dig it up and send it to the bone yard, but there are buds on it, once again!!! I couldn't be more moved by this rose at this moment!! I love you, Dad! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

It turns out that the root stock took over and the blooms are no longer VH! I'll be replacing it with an authentic VH from the roots, next year....
