Shell Ginger (Alpinia zerumbet)

Extremely care-free. I have a huge clump that I do nothing at all to. Of the gingers I have, this one is the most winter hardy but it does sometimes die back a little but seems to spring back quickly. I think as a new plant it takes 3 years before its first flower, but after that I think it can flower on 1 year's growth?

Tropical Milkweed (Asclepias curassavica)

Have
Tropical milkweed can be bad for monarch butterflies since it stays green all year if not killed back by the cold. This encourages the butterflies to stay instead of migrate. So remember to cut the plant back as the weather gets cooler for Fall. Other than that, this is a great plant aside from attracting 100's of aphids.

Several have popped up in the yard on their own. I really ought to dig up a smaller one and put it in a garden to better showcase it.

Want
(Absolute must-have)
I've been wanting this plant for a long time. The only con is that the leaves seem to easily get leaf burn from the sun.

Grand Crinum Lily (Crinum asiaticum)

Purchased two small ones and planted them one on either side of the back porch steps. Neither have bloomed yet I need to see how old they have to be to bloom. One has gotten larger than the other despite my efforts to try and keep them about the same size. Oops.

This is the crinum I actually wanted instead of the green kind with the white flower, but I got that kind instead because it was much cheaper/easier to come by. I do sorta regret not getting this one and putting it where my green ones are. Maybe someday!
