.... Feb 2016 I have purchased seed from Hirt's but don't know if I can be successful germinating the seed. Trying on heat mat and by winter sowing..... Apr 27, 2016 I have not been successful with either method of germination. Now have the seed in the unheated greenhouse, hoping the seed will eventually germinate. | ||

Texas milkweed (Asclepias texana) |

Have healthy seedlings following 30 days of moist stratification in the fridge. Will attempt to grow in 15 gal Grow Pot this summer as I will need to overwinter this milkweed in greenhouse. Person who sold me seed told me she grew her new seedlings for the first three years of their life in pots, then transplanted mature plants to her garden the fourth year. She reports they do very well in pots. These milkweed plants are small but grow quite easily and are fast growers. The seedlings I started this year have many stems and blooms all over them already. |
