Source: Baker Creek 2015 First planted in fall of 2015 (10/7/2015) from the rareseeds website: "(Softneck) Very Rare. This is a big, pearly-pink Artichoke variety that we found growing in an old Santa Fe garden in 1998. It originally had very small cloves the size of sunflower seeds and it is now our biggest softneck garlic. We have sent it to growers across the country and it seems to grow well in both coastal and cold regions – grower Paul Parma in Southern California said he'd never seen a garlic so huge. It has a rich, classic Italian flavor." |

2015: PSS Note: There is also a cranberry pole bean. (see the Amishland seed site) "Can be used as a snap, shell or dry bean. As a dry bean, the variety stores exceptionally well. Maroon-colored beans are decorated with darker red, cranberry markings. This variety, dating back to the 1800s, is well-suited to short-season, cool summer climates." ** The beans that I have growing appear to be very similar as "Gross Brothers Vermont Cranberry bean" sold by Victory Seed. Pods are slim and flat, look like they would be good snap beans. There seem to be MANY different types of "cranberry beans," many with red-streaked pods (which mine are not). |

2021: SSE Seeds are maroon and white. Given to SSE by John Withee; named for Carrie Belle Stallard of Wise County, VA. The variety dates to at least the 1930s. Used as a dry bean, described as having a "wonderful rich, meaty flavor; great for soups." Also said to be excellent as a green shell bean, with a somewhat nutty flavor. |

2021: Burpee Introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1885. Can be picked young for snap beans, used as "shelly beans," or left to mature for use as dry beans. The seeds are white and almost perfectly round, like pearls. About 80 days for snap beans. |

79 dtm "Oblate 12–16 oz fruits blush lightly yellow and develop an amber-pink tinge on the blossom end when ripe. Don't allow them to get too soft before picking. The green flesh of this beefsteak is faintly marbled with pink. Flavor sweet and tart, rich and spicy. The central large tomatoes are the best. Flavor deteriorates when cold weather sets in." 1st grown in 2015; excellent flavor, beautiful color, productive. |
