[ Porcelain Vine (Ampelopsis heterophylla 'Elegans') | Posted on June 9, 2022 ]

One of my favorite plants. Very drought tolerant once established for me in California Zone 9b. Seems to like morning sun or dappled shade best. My original plant is 20+ years old now. New baby plants pop up from seed here and there once in a while, and are variegated too. Beautiful, showy, and fairly well behaved low maintenance plant for me. Great in a container or in the ground. Spider mites can be a problem once in a while when it gets hot here, but not much else bothers it. Leaves burn if grown in full sun with triple digit summer temps.

[ Sea Holly (Eryngium planum 'Blue Hobbit') | Posted on November 29, 2021 ]

This plant self sows so aggressively here in California zone 9B that I pulled it out, and dug up or pulled all the new ones from gazillion seeds it dropped, and threw them all in the trash before they had a chance to spread further! The flowers are unique, but not that showy or exciting compared to the beautiful and well behaved Eryngium "Big Blue".

[ Guadalupe Island Senecio (Lepidospartum squamatum 'Silver and Gold') | Posted on March 20, 2020 ]

Isn't this plant's name "Senecio " also closely related to the more common Dusty Miller (Senecio cineraria) plant? Both have very white soft fuzzy leaves.
