[ Honey Bush (Melianthus major) | Posted on September 3, 2019 ]

I've wanted this plant for years. I finally got it last year and totally neglected it. I was surprised to see it come back in the pot this spring so I did the "right" thing and finally planted it. I did my "once and done" method of watering heavily at the time of planting and walked away from it. I've learned that "once and done" doesn't work as well in this yard as it did in my previous yard, but I've been pleasantly surprised and pleased with how well this plant has done with zero love. Today (September 3rd,) was the first day it looked a little thirsty, so I watered it. Very tough plant. Very beautiful. No flowers this year, but I'm looking forward to them in the future. I hear they have an unpleasant smell, but to be honest, that is part of the appeal for me. I planted it close to where my hubby likes to plant his CBD plants. One bad odor deserves another!

[ Goji Berry (Lycium barbarum) | Posted on July 28, 2019 ]

Mixed feelings. On the one hand, nothing compares to a fresh, home ground goji berry; on the other, I'm getting too old to battle something that has thorns. It is a wicked plant, and some it gets past the delicate stage, getting rid of it is very difficult to do.
