Vigorous grower and bloomer. It's already almost 5 feet tall. Beautiful dark leaves and the roses do not fade.

Fast increaser. Makes a clump quickly

Soil pH affects the flower color (blue in highly acidic soils and lilac to pink in slightly acidic to alkaline soils).

First clematis to bloom in my garden. Grows in semi shady condition. I am always amazed at how large the flowers are.

Extremely generous with blooms. First blooms are much larger than later ones. I cut mine back hard last year and it has rebounded and flowered more than ever.

Easy to root. Cut branches in fall and place in a bucket of water over winter. Roots will form, and then I plant out in the garden in spring. A friend puts hers directly in the dirt beside her water heater and shelters with an old window.

Reliable bloomer. I cut the spent flowers and it reblooms within a few weeks. I don't see many butterflies on mine, but the bees love it.

Had to use an ax to try to get a small piece to share. For me, bloom is beautiful but brief. The foliage is nice throughout the summer.

The Fairy is the heaviest bloomer I have. The bush is covered in flowers. I now have to tie mine to a trellis to support the weight of the canes in bloom.

In zone 8, my white one reseeds to the point of being weedy. My other colors are better behaved. Would love the yellow (which showed up on its own) to throw me a baby. Even the smaller ones can have tubers as big as a medium-sized potato. The smell is subtle to me and very pleasant.

In zone 8 it dies to the ground in winter. Starts to bloom about 6 weeks after emerging back in early spring. From then till frost, the plant always has blooms on it.
