I loved this plant until a few years ago when it became so invasive I couldn't keep up with the deadheading.
This plant will fill quite a large area in a matter for three years.
I have been digging it out when I find small plants while weeding.

I purchased this plant from Bluestone in 2008.

This plant only returned one season later. It didnt reseed. I have clay soil and I suppose Lupines in general aren't happy here.
I was disappointed by the plant's lack of longevity.

This is the second year for this phlox. I had 6 plants and all but two died the first winter. The last two are struggling here in zone 6a and I doubt one will return next spring.

I haven't seen any increase in plant size or root increasing.
I like the dark eggplant, almost black, buds on the bloom heads. They last a very long time -- thus the Black Mystique name, I suppose.
Alas, when the buds begin to open, they do so at a slow pace and the first few open florets die back before the entire head is open, giving the bloom an unpleasant appearance.
I doubt I will replace these plants if they succumb.

I found the bulb nearly completely emerged in March 2013.
I covered it with a combination of dirt and compost. It put up 4 stems in a month. Now it looks like there will be tons of blossoms.
I will dig and replant in fall.

I love really small hostas in a container. Nanna is also a fast spreader.

I have been looking at Google regarding this Allium.
I found only one website with the correct height. They are really tall. Mine reached 57 inches.

After one year I have to say I am disappointed in this plant. In my garden it emerges early and forms a twisted stem. The plants are very tall and need staking.
The bloom is unusual, but the plant is a problem here.
I plan to dig the bulbs and move them to the "ghetto" part of the garden to see if they change.

It's the first year for this plant here. It is so beautiful.The deep indigo blue color just can't be believed. It really does bloom long into the season.

Hi Jo Ann, ...I would think it is best to keep it in its pot for now. Come colder season, it will slow down in growing, and do not water too much, it is so easy for this one to have stem/leaf rot. Just keep it by a warm window. I would wait until next spring to divide it; by then the weather is heading to more warmth. At least your growing conditions are more controlled than mine.

My experience with this plant is that it produces the leaves from the top, the lower leaves die out, and it makes its pups from the base. It hates being watered too much, so a smaller pot is good so water drains out faster. So far, I have not divided mine, coz I grow my plant in a container outdoors. We do not have snow here, just some cold winter rains, and that's when I notice it really hates it. But I keep it outdoors, the rains are of short duration anyways and as soon as it feels warm and dried, it perks up. It turns deep red when under the sun and in the cold and not wet. Beware of snails, they love to make a meal out of it. So during winter my flapjack is such a sorry looking one, but by summer, it is happy again, it kind of trims itself, so I have no need of dividing it. Come warmer months it just stays apple green in color and truly loves the weather and grows actively.

This plant is exceptional as far as color goes. Mine is over 36 inches tall and doesn't spread really fast.

This is the 3rd year in my garden. It spreads nicely and holds a nice group.

New plant May 2012. Next year at full height, it will be smashing with Satisfaction lilies.

The online photos of this phlox in bloom are wonderful, and closeups of the blending purple and pale green in each flowerette are wonderful, but in a large clump at a distance of six feet, the whole effect is pale pink.

I am disappointed in this bulb. It's been 3 years and there is no multiplying.This is a late bloomer and I have seen no increases in stems or plants. Zone 6a or maybe it just doesn't like the part of the garden where it is.
