[ Palamocladium moss (Palamocladium euchloron) | Posted on January 12, 2013 ]

The mountain forest, which I have near my house, located about 40 miles from Sochi is a unique biotope. It belongs to the so called Euxine-Caucasian-Hyrcanian floristic region and is a unique forest refuge area. There are many relict species of Arcto-Tertiary and Indo-Malesian origin. By far and large, in the region there's plethora of epiphytic bryophyte flora , due to the humid to perhumid climate conditions. The plant Palamocladium euchloron is one of the Southwest Asian endemics, which could be found in the Arcto-Tertiary relict forests of the Black and Caspian Sea areas.
