Blackeyes are a series of cream pea varieties introduced in California. Usually a home gardener will only have access to California #5. There are a few market garden vendors carrying California #46. Major difference is that # 46 has a more compact vine and, in my case, a better yield. Commercially grown for dried peas, and mostly used by home gardeners as green shellies. Not overly popular. More folks grow Pink-Eye Purple Hull in this slot.
