In September of 2017, I was given four plumbago plants in 10-gallon pots. Two months later, I put them in the ground outside my patio fence and have been watering them so that their soil (clay) would always stay moist. Now, a year later, they have quadrupled in size and just had a wonderful flowering flush.

During the very hot heatwaves (115 F) we had this year in July and August, I had to water my plumbagos daily and shower them three times per day to help them cope with the unrelenting heat. I had to do the same for most of my plants but the plumbagos had been leafing out just before the first heatwave so it was important to try and keep them as hydrated as possible.
