    Needs perfect drainage. Good in rock & alpine gardens and containers.
    From high altitudes in south Africa (~7800') on open grassy slopes and damp peaty soils.
    Needs plentiful moisture in spring and summer.
    Intolerant of winter wet.
    May be lifted and stored dry.
    If containerized, also kept dry in winter and pot plunged into earth for summer.
