Small, solitary or usually clumping aloe with ciliate margins and surface tubercles. Looks like a Haworthia, very similar to H. arachnoidea, when not in bloom. Flowers are short and white, pale pink, or orange-red (especially var. aurantiaca) and aromatic. This species may be difficult to resolve from A. florenceae (2004) when not in bloom, but florenceae flowers are long, tubular and recurved. It enjoys lower light conditions more than most aloes and may be touchy in cultivation.
