Had a hard time getting a photo exemplifying the color scheme - (YYW YWW).
Petals of bright lemon yellow with a white halo at the base and whitish-edged, ivory-buff colored corona.
Hillstar is a sister seedling of 'Pipit'.
May be forced over winter for early indoor bloom. Transplanted outside after force will result in blooms in subsequent years.
Fertile both ways, as a seed or pollen parent; ‘Hillstar’ is breeder of many
new jonquil hybrids. Sweetly fragrant. Used as a seed parent 39 times and as a pollen parent twice. Each cross resulted in a named cultivar.
Hillstar received the highest awards bestowed by the RHS and ADS (AGM in 2004 and the Wister in 2007).
