Beardtongue (Penstemon barbatus) 'Prairie Dusk' produces lavender blossoms in the late spring and early summer. Native to the southwestern United States and Mexico, P. barbatus is a nectar source for butterflies and has special value to native bees. In my zone 7a garden, 'Prairie Dusk' was a magnet for the late spring and early summer pollinators. 'Prairie Dusk' may be visited at times by hummingbirds.
