    Often confused with Anthurium magnificum which has square petioles (leaf stems), the petioles on A. crystallinum are rounded. The leaves are described as coriaceous (resembling leather). They remind me of thin leather, soaked in water and then baked in the sun. I couldn't resist touching those at the Smith College greenhouse.
