Hydrangea 'Lady in Red' is a lacecap type hydrangea that was developed by Michael A. Dirr from the University of Georgia Research Foundation (PP15175, 2004). An open-pollinated seedling of Hydrangea macrophylla 'Otaksa' (Japanese, ~1862).

The new cultivar is noted for its reddish-purple stems, leaf veins, leaf stocks, and fall leaf color. Also it has good mildew resistance. Later used as female parent of Hydrangea macrophylla Endless Summer® Twist-n-Shout 'PIIHM-I'
