    I've only seen this plant once and that was a planted specimen at Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL that was in the Appalachian Collection. It is a good-looking vine. It climbs by twining and has alternate leaves. It has small, inconspicuous flowers of maroon color. It is not a common plant that is found in scattered locations in the southeastern US. It likes moist to boggy rich soils.
