Dwarf medusoid Euphorbia from coastal northwestern South Africa. Native to dry, sandy plains with regular fog and winter rainfall. Summers are bone dry in habitat. Named for the branching white or yellowish (rarely red) processes attached to the glands in the cyathia, like a frilly fringe. Cyathia appear near the end of the stems in winter and throughout the year in permissive climates.

An excellent container plant. Provide strong light and excellent drainage in cultivation.

Related to E. tuberculata, a more robust southern (and inland) plant with tuberculate stems and long, persistent peduncles.
