Aquilegia chrysantha var. chaplinei is native to New Mexico and West Texas.
If given a site with well-drained soil, it will reward you with an abundance of lovely buttery yellow blooms with very long spurs. It also is a great candidate for a rock garden.
Habitat:
It is found growing in limestone seeps and springs in the montane scrub or riparian canyon bottoms at 4,700-5,500 ft, but it seems to be very happy in my zone 8 at 350 foot altitude.
