A summer without white alyssum in my yard would be unthinkable. Clear Crystal is a newer tetraploid type that became available in recent years. It is said to produce larger blossoms than diploids, and I find that to be true. It is my new favorite alyssum. Clear Crystal is also available in purple and lavender colors, but white is my favorite. Clear Crystal Alyssum is also shorter than other annual alyssums that I've grown and that makes it stay in a nice, neat mound. Like most annual alyssums, if it does begin to look spent in summer, shearing back will result in the rapid regrowth of fresh blooms.

I purchased these as "multi seed pellets". They sprout well as little hunks of seedlings. Those hunks can be transplanted to a garden bed or container as small hunks, which will grow into a nice mound.

Also like most other alyssums, Clear Crystal works well when wintersown. It germinates well at fairly cool spring temperatures. It can tolerate light frost, and it bloomed in my yard into early winter last year. It reseeded well.
