Paeonia 'Border Charm' (Hollingsworth, 1984) is a 24" yellow Itoh hybrid peony. Compact and dwarf. The flowers are a soft sulfur yellow single (or semi-single). Deep bluish green foliage. Petals tips are a lighter shade of yellow. Flower has large red flares and a prominent center of sheathed carpels and red stigma. Strong stems that arch form a wide, low bush. Support is not usually required. It is a cross of a peony lactiflora cultivar and tree peony 'Alice Harding.' American peony breeders started introducing Itoh hybrids in the early to mid 1980s. This was one of those early releases.
