Hybridized by Dr. Mark Bridgen of Cornell University's Long Island Horticultural Research & Extension Center. Through extensive evaluation the plant is claimed to be hardy through zone 5, although this may be the result of testing based upon the now superseded USDA Hardiness zone map.

'Mauve Majesty' is said to produce an average of 15 florets per umbel continuously from May to frost. My new spring start has grown well, blooming fairly consistently starting in late June. The stems, square in section, are strong so I'm feeling good about it holding up well when it reaches its mature height of 24 to 30". One stem lasted for about a week as a cut flower.

Update: My plant did not survive it's first winter but I plan on trying it again.
