Dudleya attenuata subsp. orcuttii x Dudleya brittonii or Dudleya candida |
Posted by
Baja_Costero (Baja California - Zone 11b) on Feb 11, 2016 12:33 PM concerning plant:
A naturally occurring hybrid between Dudleya attenuata orcutti (the northern form of this small whitish blue finger succulent) and either D. brittonii or D. candida (larger rosette succulents), depending on the location. The latter two species are closely related but candida (which has smaller rosettes that branch heavily) appears only on islands off the coast of Baja California, while brittonii (larger, mostly solitary rosettes) is found on the peninsula itself. Dudleya attenuata occurs in both locations.
The nothospecies semiteres (named after the semiterete, or half-round shape of the leaves) is intermediate in form and flower (small, branching, powder-dusted rosettes; cup-shaped blooms). It is quite uncommon but can be found in limited numbers where the habitats of the species overlap (much of their range).
