Most online pages did not have any real information on this rare species native to southern China and northern Burma in cool locations. The Randy Stewart Landscape Design blog had some significant info and photos of this species and other Sorbus. This Chokeberry-leaved Whitebeam is a flat-topped shrub to a small tree, though it is possible that there are some medium sized trees out there. It has simple leaves to about 6 inches long by 2.4 inches wide. It bears white dense flower clusters about 3 inches wide. The fruit about 0.4 inches long ripens red-purple. Mr. Stewart reported this plant as doing well in the Pacific Northwest, but thought it would do poorly in the Midwestern or Eastern USA.
