Bluebeard (Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Lissilv' Sterling Silver®) has silvery-green foliage and blue flowers, which bloom in late summer. The blooms of this sun-loving plant are attractive to bees, and the leaves are aromatic. ‘LISSILV’ was discovered in 2006 as a chance seedling derived from the open cross-pollination of the seed parent, an individual Caryopteris clandonensis ‘Longwood Blue,’ and the pollen parent, an individual Caryopteris clandonensis ‘Heavenly Blue.’ Peter Catt discovered ‘LISSILV’ at his nursery in Greatham, Hants, United Kingdom. The cultivar name, 'Lissilv,' is a combination of the name of the inventor Peter Catts' nursery Liss Forest Nursery and silver.
