It was by accident that I ended up with this tomato in the garden this year. I start seeds, but I pick up a few plants too. I thought I had picked up SunGold, but when I got home I realized my mistake. As it happened, it was a very good mistake to make!

The fruit is small and a nice orange color when it is fully ripe. It has been a good producer for us, but has not over-run us with cherry tomatoes. I do pick them before they're fully ripe, but even with all the rain here this summer, I have not had one tomato off this plant split. My husband loves the fact that this is a little tomato with a big tomato taste. He has requested that I make sure to purchase seeds to grow again next year.

I highly recommend this tomato. I see this one being grown here in our garden from now on.

Juicy orange cherry, thin skinned, VERY sweet, doesn't crack, my go-to cherry tomato. Note: In 2017, the fruit was not nearly as sweet, hoping this is just a fluke.

For the last two years I have grow Sungold. Wonderful taste. So when I heard about Sunsugar and heard that it was supposed to be even better than Sungold, I had to grow it.

I think that the fruits are slightly bigger, but because both are cherry types there probably isn't much difference in size. A big difference I have found is that Sungold usually split for me and Sunsugar rarely, rarely splits, and we have had a lot of rain this year. The Sunsugar plants this year are growing in the same spot that the Sungolds were in last year, so it is a good comparison.

The taste is divine. Lots of flavor and very sweet for a tomato, but not so sweet that it loses its taste. All in all, a big winner, in my opinion. I plan to be growing Sunsugar again next season and every year after that.

This is my all-time favorite cherry tomato (so far). The right amount of sweet and tart, a good producer here. The seeds are getting harder to find for some reason. I wish it was an heirloom variety. It stands up well in its cage and we've had no cracking of the fruit. Tomatoes are about an inch in diameter, firm and juicy, with thin skins. This is one of the varieties we grew on the dashboard of the RV last winter and planted into the garden when we got home. That plant is still producing, albeit not as prolifically as the others started in the greenhouse this spring.

Vigorous indeterminate plants produced lots of 1/2-ounce golden fruits with a very sweet flavor. If you like 'Sungold', you'll love the very similar 'SunSugar', since it is more crack resistant.

I've been growing these from seed for a few years now. I had poor germination this year and bought starts, which were available in my area for the first time. Hmm. Not the same tomato for some reason. Totally out of control habit - not good for a container, with the plant sprawled all over the porch steps and tomatoes getting stepped on. The fruits were not round, and not gold, and not particularly tasty. I found the elongated, dark orange tomatoes I got this year to be bland and kind of mealy. I hope they were just mis-labeled or something and not the end of my favorite Sunsugar.

A comment in praise of SunSugar is probably redundant, but it is such a great tomato I will comment. My whole family loves it, as does everyone I share some with. Very productive.......enough fruit to graze on in the garden and pick for future eating. As long as I raise tomatoes, there will be room in the garden for SunSugar.
