Introduced into cultivation in 1596; commemorates St. Bernard of Montjoux. From mountain meadows in southern Europe.
This species is the species utilized in gardens. Reference notes that most plants and seeds sold as Paradisea liliastrum prove to be this species instead (John Bryan).
Leaves are grass-like up to a foot long, flowers up to 2" dia. A pretty impressive looking plant.
Can be grown in deep containers w/ super drainage.
