This plant did not bloom until its 3rd year in the ground, but when it did - what a show!

Spreads at a nice rate. Never invasive or aggressive. Transplants easily. It always roams to the cooler soil, never to the sun. Blooms a very long time for what is considered to be a spring bloomer.

Edited to add bloom dates: The earliest photo I've taken was the end of May but it was in bloom before then. The latest photo was taken July 9th and it continued to bloom after that date.

I have posted the first bloom dates but it continues to bloom all through the middle of August. Spreads reliably and is easily spread through the garden by digging a clump on the edges and planting elsewhere. This is an evergreen. The bush like base plant remains green, if a little 'slumped' over the winter, but picks up quickly in the spring. It will re-bloom pretty much all summer if you deadhead it.
