The Turkish Hazelnut or Filbert is a large tree that is native to southeast Europe and western Asia. I've only seen a few in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic of the US mostly at arboretums or estates; I know of two trees planted at a hospital in southeast PA and the town of Wayne, PA planted several in small planting beds in sidewalks as street trees in 2021. There are a few large, diverse conventional nurseries that sell some. It makes a great street tree in Germany and other parts of Europe and is urban tolerant. It makes a handsome coarse-textured tree. It grows medium rate of about 1.5 feet/year when young.
