My biggest customer has one specimen of this species in her diverse landscape in a partially shady, moist place with Hosta. It is native to Japan, Korea, and northeast China. The genus name of Kirengeshoma comes from the Japanese language of Ki = yellow, Renge = lotus flower, and Shoma = hat.

This plant is easy to grow and propagate from cuttings. I tried several times to pollinate but failed. Loves partial shade woodland environment.

A great shade garden plant that does well alongside hosta, ferns, Toad Lilies, Astilbe, and other shade loving plants.
Likes to be kept moist and likes to have a mulch of leaves or compost to help keep the soil cool and moist.

Can be slow to establish. One of the few late flowering woodland perennials.

Cut the dead foliage and stems back to the ground in late autumn.
