This particular form of E. multiscapideum originates around Pulga Bridge in California and is named after field botanist Glen Clifton. It is considered to be more robust and vigorous than the type. It is not recognised as a distinct botanical variety but is recognised by the RHS as a strain (the Cliftonii Group). Often it is sold as "var. cliftonii" or the cultivar "Cliftonii".
