I used to grow Penstemon heterophyllus 'Electric Blue' in my garden, but lost it after a few years. I would always keep it deadheaded, so maybe that's the reason it died. I know you're suppose to let some stems stand with seeds regarding Penstemons.

I haven't gotten around to getting another. I'll have to grow it in a different spot next time. It is a gorgeous blue color.

    It is endemic to California.

I had this plant years ago, but I lost it. The flowers are a gorgeous electric blue color! I'd like to find it again to plant. The one I had I got locally, but I haven't seen it since.

Maybe I'll check the growing requirements better if I can find it. I might not had the perfect conditions where I had it planted.

I have successfully started this from seed and it was fairly easy. Plants are also available from Bluestone Perennials. Seed was purchased from Summer Hill Seeds.

Survives zone 5 without protection. Gorgeous skyblue blooms. Tolerates high temperatures ok without wilting badly. Seems to tolerate transplanting as well.
