Toxicity: Other: All members of the genus Euphorbia produce a milky sap called latex that is toxic and can range from a mild irritant to very poisonous.

    The South African dwarf medusoid E. brevirama has apparently absorbed the former E. astrophora (distinguished by its star-like spines, which are actually peduncles, anatomically) as a variety. This plant was formerly associated with E. decepta, which also has very short arms.
