This is called the Blue or Southern Blue Monkshood, but the Mount Cuba Center in northern Delaware calls it the Climbing Monkshood. However, it really has its slender and flexible stems leaning on other plants rather than really climbing. Its native range is from Missouri to Pennsylvania to Georgia & Alabama to Tennessee, growing in low woods, damp slopes, and along banks of streams. The Chicago Botanic Garden just north of Chicago, Illinois, has some planted on their grounds. It is sold by some large, diverse conventional nurseries and native plant nurseries. It is endangered or threatened in its native habitat.
