    This plant is listed as endangered in several states.
    Grows mostly in the southeastern states in thickets, pinelands, and clearings . Prefers sandy soil, shade, and some moisture.
    Has a bright yellow flower that looks a lot like an aster.
    The leaves and stem are very hairy.
