    Single stemmed plant < 2' tall. Single grass like leaf emerges from plant's base, less than 2' length.This Illinois wild flower orchid is different than other orchids in the wilds of Illinois in that the flower lip is at the top rather than bottom of flower. Habitats found in are marshes, bogs, and wet prairies.
    Classified as state endangered. Usually found in the northern half of state; also, Macoupin Co. in the central south, and Jackson Co. in southern Illinois.
