Roundleaf Bluet, also called "Innocence" and "Fairy Footprints" (due to the tiny, pure-white flowers and the diminutive plant size) is a low-growing perennial wildflower; a Florida native found throughout the state. The oval fleshy leaves are approximately 1/2 inch long and attached to a short, creeping stem. The tiny 1/4-inch flowers are pure white in color with a pale yellow throat. Each flower consists of 4 (rarely 5) widely flaring, pointed petals. Houstonia procumbens has a prostate growth habit, forming dense, almost flat mats that can grow to 10 inches wide. Roundleaf Bluet occupies habitats of dry sandy areas, disturbed sites, and open woodlands.
