Description from the 1933 catalog, Royal Iris Gardens (J. C. Nicholls, Jr., Camillus, NY), p.75:
Other American Species
HEXAGONA. 2 ft. Bright blue flowers on an erect, though angled, stem; slender deep green leaves and slender rhizomes. Received from a Western grower; quite different from Foliosa, which has very broad leaves and a thick rhizome. Late blooming.
