This Dock-leaved or Pale or Nodding or Heart's-Ease Smartweed is a common plant with a wide native range over North America and Eurasia. It is mostly found in wetland locations and near water, but can also be found in meadows, disturbed fields, along Railroad tracks, and in ditches. The simple, alternate leaves get to be 8 inches long by 2 inches wide. The spike-like raceme flower clusters grow about 2 to 8 inches long and droop conspicuously. I only know it as a wild plant, not cultivated.
