Peruvian Water Primrose is a wetland species and the largest species of Ludwigia. Attaining heights of 10 to 12 feet, it forms large, dense thickets on lake shores and along roadsides. The plant has pubescent stems with alternate leaves and the single yellow 4 or 5 petaled flowers appear at the leaf axils. This plant blooms from spring through fall and the flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. This plant is an invasive here in Florida.

Ludwigia peruviana is a host plant for the Banded Sphinx Moth.
