Peregrina seems to be a popular plant in butterfly houses/gardens. I've noticed its presence in Houston, Galveston, and St Louis. It is in near-constant bloom. Originally from Cuba. It can be grown in large containers.

These make lovely, fast-growing small trees for small yards or limited spaces. It is not hard to make these into standards. They will get lanky, with growth concentrated on the top 1/3 of the stems/branches, unless you cut them back every few months. This needs to be done in either bush or standard form. The seed pods pop when they burst and the seeds fly far. You can hear the pop easily. They will sprout on their own when they find some nice mulch. You can dig those sprouts up and transplant them because they tolerate transplanting well.

Butterflies and hummers are attracted to this plant. Here in north Florida it needs to be over wintered in my GH where it blooms pretty much all winter.

Bought this in the fall; the bloom color is so pretty.
