Mine is in very thick red clay at the top of a slope in full sun. We're hot and humid all season after May, sometimes it rains nonstop, but they've gone weeks without, too. Perfect conditions, apparently. I've had this since 2016 at least. After the first plant, I've always just let seedlings grow where I like and pull the rest. Eventually the older ones die (I think after two seasons or so), but there are always at least a couple seedlings. Still a vivid lime green, and the flowers show beautifully against it.

I loved growing this beauty. It died many years ago and I haven't gotten around to planting it again.

I thought mine died but it came back this year. I started more seeds as well. I love the fragrant and yellow leaves. I hope yo see them bloom this year.

Mine are also living in moderate clay and I'm in zone 7b/8a in GA so it's hot and humid all summer long. Hopefully the second year plant will be able to tolerate more heat this season. Hurray!

In my New England garden this plant has self seeded for me since I first sowed it, 5-10 years ago. I'd say it's about 85-90% true with a stray 'regular green' in there here and there. While it does self seed, it's not weedy - I get 6-8 plants that come up/back each year. Some years a few more, and I either pull them or dig them and give them away. I don't find it invasive. I also don't know if it's short lived as some comments in this thread have made me wonder, but I find it a reliable if restrained reseeder. I have it growing nearly full sun, and relatively thin soil (my gardening friends tell me NONE of my soil is "thin" but it seems happy in the sunnier, thinner soil areas).

I like it for the pop of yellow it offers and it's undemanding nature.

I bought my original seeds from Diane's Seeds in 2012. My experience is similar to Jen's. It self sows gently, and I typically share extra seedlings with friends. I think of it as short-lived, but it might be our conditions. Our plants are mainly in full sun or morning sun and gravelly soil. I don't give them supplemental water. Sometimes the plants wilt on the hottest summer days (when other Agastaches in the yard aren't wilting), but there may be more clay in the soils where the other Agastaches are growing. I love this one for the way the foliage lights up the garden and the way the bees adore the flowers Thumbs up

I'm late to the party, haven't been in this site much. Love this plant! As other posters have said, it self sows; which is a good thing because in my garden beds (not much clay) it survives 3-4 years but eventually dies off. But the seedlings replace it and I have several clumps going. Beautiful bright foliage and flowers attract bees.
