I throw these away all the time. Especially like the bird feeder idea!

I never buy milk, so I make my scoops from laundry detergent jugs. Very stiff, thick plastic. And the screw-on cap can be left on to make it a scoop, or removed to maske a scoopy-funnel.

I use those to fill pots and propagation trays.

Thanks! I use all kind of plastic bottles as funnels in the kitchen.

I also "rolled up" some 8.5" x 11" card stock, kind of "at an angle" to make big funnels for pouring dry cat food.

I did the same thing with much smaller sqaures of card stock or stiff glossy magazine covers. those make nice tiny funnels for spooning seeds into small Ziplok baggies. They push right into the Ziplock, which I set inside a plastic pill bottle weighted down with pennies so it won;'t tip.

I've been putting all my plastic milk jugs in our recycling barrel, maybe I should keep a few out for this idea. I sure do look at throw away's a lot different now.

Like RickCorey said, there are lots of uses for these.

I always feel just a tad bit guilty when I toss a jug in the trash.

This is what I meant in the above post, about rolled-up card stock used as funnels, for splitting seeds into Zip-locs. I also use junk-mail on stiff, glossy card stock.

Cardboard boxes (actually "chipboard"), like cracker or cereal boxes, make nice trays to keep things from tipping over. You can cut them horizontally or lengthwise. I reinforce the open end with with 2" wide clear shipping tape before cutting them in half. They also keep my spice jars organized in the cupboard.

However, there is a fine line between throwing fewer things away due to re-purposing, and being an out-and-out hoarder. I try to stay away from hoardeing, but it is a temptation.

And must admit I try not to be a hoarder... at least until I look at the mass of plants in the greenhouse. Feeling like a plant hoarder now as I'm getting ready to move them out for the summer.

9 give away seeds

11 sell seeds
12 sell plants

To my credit (patting myself on the back) I walked out 4 large garden centers yesterday. I came home empty handed. Every time I'd look at a plant I'd think that I need to be at home, moving plants out of the greenhouse. Glad your 12 Step Program wasn't echoing in my brain yesterday!!! Still need to empty that greenhouse for the summer.
