I have 2 large Romeo dwarf Cherry Trees and a Carmine Jewel dwarf Cherry planted in a row. They have been there for several years. Each year they are loaded with blossoms, but the Romeos basically set zero fruit and the Carmine sets a handful.
Since these are suppose to be self pollinating, what else could be the problem? It's so disappointing to see them loaded with blooms each year and never get fruit.
Name: John Scott County, KY (Zone 5b) You can't have too many viburnums..
Tell us about your cultural and maintenance practices. Do you ever spray for any pests or diseases? A chronology of your annual care regarding these trees may bear fruit - if I'm allowed a pun.
Do you have any photographs of these plants to share? Current pictures are fine, as well as any you might have of when these trees have flowered.
Thanks John, I'll look for photos when they are in bloom, I swear I took some! I'll take photos of them as of today later.
I do not spray, and not have fertilized since the plants are so robust and I could find no information on what to use. The only information I have found is that that they may benefit from pruning which I have never done.
I thought these were very low maintenance plants ... maybe not. They are low maintenance if all you want is a flowering landscape shrub.
I'll post pictures by the end of the day .... back to outdoor projects while we have a cool day.
