Hey there -
I was recently on a hike (zone 5 early- mid September) and found this sort of variegated plant that might pass as a ground cover. It had berries too (see pic) but I'm not sure if they color up when ripe. Does anyone recognize it?

That pretty plant looks like Spotted Wintergreen (Chimaphila maculata)

You are right that's what it is! How very neat! It's quite attractive....I may go back later in the season and see if I can find it to collect some seeds.
