I don't have much in the way of stats for Jean Swann, only that it is one of the few doubles that will remain in my garden as I downsize. I purchased it in 2009 and it has been in the same spot since then. It really, really needs to be divided because this year it was not as pretty as other years.

Garden shot from 2017 - registered at 32 inches and I believe it gets about that tall in my garden.

2021 - I counted between 20-25 fans this year and they are packed tight so the foliage looks very ratty. It blooms between mid-late June and mid-late July in my zone 6b garden.

I've never noticed rust on Jean Swann, even though the database shows that it is susceptible.

Jean Swann is tied with another Joiner for favorite double. JS is listed as a rebloomer, but if so, the blooms all happen in one period. You can see by the photo shown how pretty it is in full bloom, but those are four plants. Also, once the bloom period is over, I am guessing the plants go into summer dormancy here. The foliage just about disappears and then reappears when the weather cools. I bought these plants as a three plant package deal more than ten years ago, and the fourth is a proliferation that was planted several years ago. I have never divided them, maybe that might be a good idea, for this year they seemed to not do as well as usual. The planting location probably isn't the best and with shade from trees and tree roots bound to be a factor, the scapes may not be as tall as registered, but they are above the foliage, and that works for us. The color is listed as a yellow self, but here there are some variations of color such as ivory and peach blended in. We did have some rust show last year, but not this year for the extremely cold winter killed the rust, so northern growers should not worry about that. Double daylily lovers who like this color would probably be very happy with this one. As long as we are here, Jean Swann will be here with us.

It is a pale yellow and fades to a near white. Grows well here in southern Ohio.

I have yet to see good, consistent blooms from this plant after 5 years. I guess I should try moving it. It has probably only had scapes (1) every other year and hasn't increased in size by more than a few fans.

I am in a 5b, almost 6a region.
